About Me
I was born and grew up in Switzerland, the land of mountains, banks and chocolate. Ah yes, and "Heidi", the fictional character in a novel written by the 19th century Swiss author Johanna Spyri, and later made famous around the globe in a 1970s animated TV series produced in Japan by two men who later founded the now world-renowned Studio Ghibli.
Although I was aware at the time that one of my favourite weekly TV programmes had been created in Japan, it is not the famed Japanese cartoons (which attract so many young people in Western countries to Japan these days), that drew me to this country. Far from it.
In fact, when I studied in the UK in the early 90s, it is the British Isles that attracted me, and where I saw my future.
Until I ran into a Japanese girl at my place of study, and then a few years later suddenly found myself living in Japan.
And the rest, as they say, is history...
